About Us

The USC Center for Spinal Surgery is a multidisciplinary hospital-based spine center that is dedicated to the management of all types of spinal disorders. The USC Center for Spinal Surgery serves as a one-stop location for the evaluation, diagnostic testing and treatment of virtually any disorder affecting the spine. The Center combines the knowledge and expertise of over 30 top-ranked physicians and surgeons, in 13 different specialties. The multidisciplinary team at USC University Hospital involved with the USC Center for Spinal Surgery includes specialists from orthopaedic surgery, neurology, rheumatology, pain management, interventional radiology, radiology, oncology, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, internal medicine, physical therapy, and geriatrics. All of the specialists are full-time faculty of the prestigious USC Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, and most are fellowship-trained physicians and leaders in their respective fields.

Dr. Mark J. Spoonamore serves as the Medical Director of the USC Center for Spinal Surgery. All patients are initially evaluated by Dr. Spoonamore, and referred for additional testing, consultations or treatment as required and indicated. Generally, additional tests and/or initial treatments can be carried the same day as the Initial Consultation Visit, allowing patients to begin their recovery, decrease pain, and improve their function much faster.
